Almost 400 over 60 years old athletes of the In Common Sports project are almost ready to take part to the first round of the competitions in 4 different countries!

They have been attending weekly training sessions since March and they will demonstrate that the competition associated with the conviviality and sporting spirit, constitutes an extra motivation for the adoption of healthier lifestyles.

The first to take the field are the Bulgarian participants. The Municipality of Aksakovo is organizing the games from the 3th to 5th September 2018, that will take place in Aksakovo stadium and basketball court and in Varna. The competitions’ programme include football, basketball , national ball, folk dances, volleyball, swimming and a demonstration of sports fight. In occasion of the competitions the Bulgarian partner will host as well the 3rd transnational project meeting and the partners’ delegations will be able to assist the games.

Then, on 22nd and 23rd September it will be the turn of the Italian participants. The Municipality of Cesena is organizing the games for more than 60 participants that will compete within the arena of Cesena in Wellness sport fair, an event included in the Italian calendar of the European Week of Sport 2018, challenging different sports in adapted modalities and traditional games.

The Portuguese edition of the games will take place from 26th to 28th of September, in Arcos de Valdevez, with about 150 athletes over 60 years of age, representing their municipalities in this edition of the Olympics. 10 municipalities of Alto Minho region and the Galician county Tomiño are back in shape to participate in the initiative that is already a European reference in the promotion of sports practice among the senior population "the Intergenerational Olympics".

In addition to the universal sporting modalities (Athletics, Swimming, Volleyball and Basketball) and the traditional games (Pétanque, Quoits, Boccia and rope ), this edition countswith the introduction of two new competitions giving the athletes to experience the float polo and adapted rugby. Around 30 senior athletes from the municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira (PT) and Tomiño (ES) are attending since March to the weekly training sessions, with the purpose of representing the municipality in this edition of the Olympics.

In the Hungarian Intergeneration Competitions more than 100 senior athletes from Budapest and Százhalombatta will take part in more sport challenges. They will compete in basketball, athletics, orienteering, bowls and petanque, and archery as well in the beginning of October.
